Elements + Principles of Design: Reflection Journal
In this project we were asked to capture photos that represent the different elements and principles of design. I worked on my project a bit differently, and combed through photographs I had already taken (as photography is my concentration there were many), and find photographs that were exemplary of the different elements and principles of design. I used a photographs that ranged from up to 3 years ago, as that is when I started being quite purposeful with my photography and felt I had enough photographs that incorporated these elements and principles. I actually found this project quite enjoyable as I realized some of my simplest photographs were the strongest in conveying these principles. I also found that most of my photographs were of organic substances, mostly taken outside, or at the Botanical Gardens.
Below is a slideshow of the different elements and principles of design:
I thought that your project was very well done, I enjoyed reading and analyzing your work even more so that you are an artists. You mentioned that you have experience in photography, and it shows with your photos and what you decided to use. The pictures in your slide show were professional, concise and the terms on each slide harmonized your entire slide show. I thought that all of the photos that you used fit all of the definitions. Your project was to the point and thought out. Overall your project completed all of the necessary steps and procedures to the project. Your comments about your slide show were helpful as an introduction to your piece and was a good starting point for your audience.
ReplyDeleteHi Gabrielle,
ReplyDeleteI thought your photos were beautiful and your descriptions in the photos were also helpful. I do wish that you never covered up the images with the type, however, because I feel that the type overlay distracts me from seeing the beauty of your photo and discovering why you chose it as an example of the elements and principles of design. Your examples of line, color, value, contrast, and balance are your best images, in my opinion.
